4Ws

Did you volunteer to lead one of the 4 Ws? Are you excited to try something new? Are you in need of some fresh ideas? Never fear... We've got loads of 'em.

Below you'll find the general overview of all 4 Ws. Click on one for more ideas and information.

Welcome (~10mins)

The Purpose

To refocus the group every time we meet. Whether it is something silly or serious, the Welcome helps by allowing the group to shake off the stress of the week, the nagging mental to-do list, and feel like the meeting is a set-aside time. It is important for everyone to be able to participate and feel included.

Worship: (~15mins)

The Purpose
As the group has focused on each other in the Welcome time, now we focus on God, inviting His presence to be among us. We do this because we recognize we need Jesus at the center of FoF. Without His life there would be no point in us meeting. We want to focus on God and obey the command to "love God."

Word: (~20 to 40mins)

The Purpose
To allow the Holy Spirit to teach us through the Word. We are each uniquely gifted, and when we discuss the word together, we benefit each other with our gifts, while applying truth to individuals' lives so that they grow. This is not an ethereal bible “study”, but an application of the Word that is 1) personal, 2) specific and 3) practical. The leader of the "Word" section may be no more of an expert than the rest of the group. The leader does not need to spend tons of time preparing or have an annotated and outlined speech prepared. The leader of "Word" should facilitate discussion, especially toward the nature of God, the nature of man, and the practical implications of the scripture we are studying. He/she should be familiar with the passage and questions that can be used to hit on the important issues.

Witness: (~15mins)
The Purpose
To reach our friends who don’t know God, to grow in number (through non-Christians meeting Jesus) and therefore to grow big enough to multiply (which is about 15 people).

We want to use the Witness time to talk about what God is challenging us to do. It may not specifically revolve around sharing the gospel, but we want to leave with a willingness to act. We want to have the opportunity to share with each other specific ways God is calling us to obey.

This is intimately intertwined with reaching our friends who don't know Jesus, because God most often chooses to speak through us and our lives.
